What makes the Ayalim Entrepreneurs Program unique when compared to other programs in Israel?
You will live together with a selective group of Israeli students in the Negev Desert and be a part of a special, one of its kind community. At the same time you will learn how to think and act as an entrepreneur as a result of the theoretical courses on entrepreneurship and your own experience and hands-on practice during the program.
Will I earn resume-worthy/ business relevant experience?
You will gain first-hand experience initiating and implementing your own project. In addition to your theoretical lectures on entrepreneurship you will also acquire personal connections to leading business and social entrepreneurs.
When does the program start and end?
The Fall session will run from October 3rd 2011 to February 28th 2012
The Spring session will run from March 28th 2012 to August 28th 2012
What language is the program conducted in?

What can I do in my free time in the Village?
For those who are energetic there is an outdoor and indoor gym, a swimming pool and basketball court in the Ashalim community. There are also pleasant walks to a nearby well and ancient ruins. If you are looking to relax after a hard days work there are some great communal areas including a hammock deck, club house with a pool table and “terrace” that offers beautiful sunset views.
What social activities will be available?
Every Wednesday night there is a pub night run by the students. There are also regular events and parties held within the village. Alternatively Beer Sheva which is only a half hour bus ride, has a bustling student life with regular parties, concerts and cultural events. There are two Ayalim villages in Beer Sheva where students can crash after a late night out.
Will I have any free weekends while on the program?
Your weekend are mainly free where you can do your own touring and sightseeing in Israel. Beer Sheva
is a 1.5 hour bus ride from both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. You are also welcome to remain in the village,where all the students enjoy a communal “pot-luck” Shabbat Dinner together and often go on hikes in the area. You will also have the opportunity to be set up with an adoptive family in Israel who will be happy to have you join them for weekends.
Do I need to know Hebrew to participate in Ayalim?
No, your intensive Ulpan Course will give you the basics and living together with Israeli students will give you a great opportunity to practise and improve your conversational skills.
How do participants travel around Israel?
Israel has a great bus system with buses travelling regularly throughout the country. Given Israel’s small geographic size almost anywhere in Israel in reachable within a few hours, yet often the differences in landscapes and environment can be quite dramatic. There is also a train station in Beer Sheva that offers comfortable and speedy transport to all major destinations. Upon arrival we will provide you with schedules and detailed information about all forms of public transport.
Is there a meal plan available?
No, your house will be equipped with a basic kitchen including a stove, refrigerator and basic utensils. There is a small supermarket in the village and the market in Beer Sheva is very close to the bus station. Students often choose to cook and eat meals together.
Should I bring a laptop or any other equipment?
There is internet access in the village so you are welcome to bring a laptop to stay in touch with your friends and family.
What is the weather like in Ashalim?
You can expect typical desert climate. Days are very hot and dry especially in the summer months, bring hats and sunscreen. Evenings can be cold and windy so we recommend bringing a good sweater or jacket.
Will I be able to do my laundry in Ashalim?
Yes, there is a large communal washing machine.
