Trips, Cultural Encounters and Hebrew
You will participate in 13 day trips around the country. Although trips may vary from session to session some planned excursions include:
- A 3-days trip to the north – following the Chalutzim (the first pioneers of Israel) in Deganya – the first Kibbutz in Israel, Tiberius an ancient city on the western shore of the Kinneret Lake dating back to 20 CE and the beautiful Galilee area.
- Touring in Haifa and in other Ayalim villages in the north of Israel and learning about the entrepreneurial and social activities of students in these areas.
- A 2-day trip to Masada and the Dead Sea
Cultural encounters
Ayalim students celebrate most of the Jewish Chagim (holidays) together in the village. In addition to learning about the significance and history of both religious and national holidays, you will take part in the festivities meals and commemorations with the Israeli students in the village.
Once a month you join the “Ayalim Day," where Ayalim students from the North and South come together for a communal activity such as a hiking, learning Jewish text or dancing together at Ayalim’s famous desert parties.
Hebrew Ulpan
You will take part in an intensive Ulpan course during the first month with classes taking place 5 days a week for 5 hours each day. Classes are small and intimate with your own private Ulpan teacher who will cater to your needs even if you come without any prior knowledge of Hebrew. The fact that you will be living in a village with predominantly Israeli students will offer a great opportunity to practise your Hebrew and improve it rapidly.
